Surrounded by scenic mountain views and preserving an ancient way of village life on the water, Inle Lake is one of the top destinations for travelers to Myanmar. You get to ride a local motorboat right into the fishing village and see what their lives are like firsthand. Inle’s also probably got the best developed tourism industry, which means you get tons of fun things to do. Take a bike trip around the lake, eat at a delicious upscale restaurant, or just meander through the town with the locals! You’ll definitely find the Inle experience a highlight of your trip.

Destinations include: Yangon and Inle Lake.

See itinerary below for more details.

Day 1 / Yangon Arrival

Meet on arrival at Yangon International Airport and you will be transferred to your hotel. Full day tour of Yangon includes colonial-style city center and bustling CHINA TOWN. Later, you will take a stroll through the BOGYOKE (SCOTTS) MARKET, a compound of hundreds of food, garment, handicrafts and gem stores. Continue to the magnificent reclining Buddha Image at CHAUK HTAT GYI TEMPLE; and after a photo stop at the KARAWEIK HALL, a ‘Hamsa-bird-shaped’ floating barge on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake, you will complete your day with a visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. Dinner is on your own account and overnight stay in Yangon.

Day 2 / Yangon – Heho – Inle Lake

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to airport for a flight to HEHO. Upon arrival, you will proceed by road to NYAUNG SHWE and then by a boat to your hotel for check-in. Excursion by boat on Inle Lake will include the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery. Visit the PHAUNGDAW OO PAGODA, one of the main principle shrines in Myanmar and dating back to the 18th century; the weaving village of INPAWKHON and one of the local markets in the Inle Lake region (on market days only). A visit is also made to INTHAR HERITAGE HOUSE, a sanctuary for the endemic specie of cats, known as Burmese cats. Continue to a weaving factory to witness how the lotus fabric is painstakingly created by hands. Lunch is taken at a local restaurant. Dinner is on your own account and overnight stay at Inle Lake.

Day 3 / Inle Lake

After breakfast, transfer by boat to MAING THAUK village located on the eastern shore of the lake. Walk through the village and continue up hill (walking time approximately 1 hour) under the shade of the trees to a stupa and the adjacent monastery which is also a meditation center. The moment you arrive you will feel a sense of serenity and peacefulness. If you wish a monk will introduce you into the world of meditation and give you a lecture on the way body and mind flows together as one. Descend back to the village with the possibility to visit an orphanage on the way. Total walking time: about 2 hours, partly up-hill (not steep), altitude difference less than 100 m. Continue by boat to a local restaurant built on stilts over the lake for lunch.
